Was I being rude and disrespectful ?

So last night my son woke up crying. My husband got up and instead of feeding him and trying to calm him down, he tried to change his diaper instead. So of course my son screams even more. I ran in and yelled at my husband “ why would you change a diaper when the baby is screaming!?” . Was I being rude and disrespectful to my husband?

I mean changing the diaper first and then feeding since they would fall back to sleep makes sense.

I personally always change a baby's diaper first, as to not to disturb them after they have relaxed with a bottle and have fallen asleep. But everyone is different. Telling instead of yelling probably would have worked...

I mean you could’ve just talked to him and not yell. He may have thought baby needed a diaper change and that’s why baby was crying. Maybe just advise him to give a bottle and baby will calm down quickly

If you calm the baby down first, and then he starts to fall back to sleep, but then you need to wake him to change the dirty diaper, he could end up crying again and then that would have defeated the whole purpose. Your husband's logic makes sense to me. Hurry up and get the diaper part out of the way, and then get to the calming down. It might not be the way you would have done things, but that's no reason to scream at him and make him feel like an idiot for taking care of the baby.

Absolutely. He’s trying to take care of the baby and you’re screaming at him. Good luck cuz now he’s not going to want to help to avoid being yelled at when he does   Why wouldn’t you change their diaper first. Chances are if you feed the they’ll fall back asleep and then have to do it and probably wake them back up.

My baby cries and screams when she wakes up wet. You're 100% in the wrong here and should have communicated better. Hes not a mind reader and cannot know why the baby is crying.

This exact same situation happened with me and my husband looking back on it now we were both extremely sleep deprived and I was on the verge of losing my sanity. He started to change his diaper and my son got absolutely hysterical which triggered my fight or flight and I was immediately upset because why wouldn’t he just calm him down?! Why would he make him more upset instead of trying to fix the situation?! Why did he think now was the best time to change his diaper when he was already pissed?! I yelled at him and began crying I took my son from him fed him calmed him down put him back in bed then after I managed to get my marbles again we talked about what just happened and why it happened and how my outburst wasn’t an effective way of communicating. I apologized to my husband and we learned a lot about ourselves and each other as parents because of it. We haven’t had a situation like that since. Now we’re a team. It takes time to get into the groove of things with each other and sometimes you’ll get on each other’s assess over little things. But remember they’re also parents too and they have their own way of doing things which includes calming down and getting baby back into bed. It’s a learning curve and no one is perfect. Apologize to your husband and talk about what happened why it made you feel that way and how you made him feel. Communicate with each other. You’re a team and not a single team out there became one without work and growing pains.

It’s so easy to have a short fuse and we’re sleep deprived and adjusting to a whole new life. Whereas yelling probably wasn’t the answer LOL I see where you were coming from. My husband thinks that anytime she cries she needs a new diaper LOL I try to be mindful and let him figure things out on his own and to recognize that my way might not be his way. Honestly my baby does not care about the state of her diaper as gross as it is. One day he’ll figure that out LOL. ￼￼

Yes, but at the same time I get it, I am also super cranky sometimes these days and I am constantly reminding myself to be kind and patient with my husband 😓 it’s hard when we are so ridiculously tired!
