Preconception appointment?

Are you going to, or did you have a preconception appointment? What's the benifits of having one? My SO and I are ttc. We are on cycle #2 and I'm wondering if I should go in and have a preconception appointment or not. I had a yearly exam about 9 months ago, but I also have thyroid problems so that is something that will need an eye kept on it.

I have a long luteal phase so I'm wondering if I should go in and talk to a doctor about it. What do you ladies think?

Two days after my so and I started ttc I had went and got a physical and my yearly... My mother had a lot of health issues so I wanted to make sure I was healthy before hand! 😊

I never had one. I changed gynos after I had already started ttc and the new doc just asked how long had I been trying during my first pap appt. Fast forward to now...I've been ttc for almost two years and the only thing she has had us do is a semen analysis on my husband. I go in two weeks for my yearly pap and I can't wait to talk to her and get answers on what the next step will be.

I had one. They ask you all about your past and current medical history, medications, any past or current habits or medical issues, etc.. They also ask what diseases and/or medical conditions may run in your or your SO's family. Depending on the condition, your doctor may refer you to a genetic counselor so you can find out if you or your SO are carriers for those issues and the risk of them being passed on to your children

My doctor did my yearly pap but wouldnt do anything else until we were ctively trying to get pregnant for more than 6 months. He said there's nothing to do or check until you've tried that long
