Wisdom teeth out while pregnant?
***Long story***
So I’m in the 2nd trimester 19 weeks. I’ve been having tooth pain which started affecting how I eat due to the pain, I went to the dentist seeing if there’s anything I can do, turns out my left bottom wisdom is infected and is completely on its side will need to be cut out which is normally an operation to be done while being sedated but being pregnant I can’t be sedated, my wisdom teeth roots have also gone past the nerves in my face so I need another larger X-ray (not recommended while pregnant) to see exactly where the nerves are around the teeth to avoid nerve damage. The left top wisdom is pushing down so also needs to be taken out. The two on the right side aren’t as bad but they are heading in the same direction so I’m recommended to get them all out saving having to do the surgery again later on when the problem comes up. I was also told that after an operation like this fever and not being able to eat right for a while after possibly a week isn’t ideal for someone who’s pregnant but again if the pain isn’t manageable now then that’s not ideal either.
I have no idea what to do I’m terrified of the risks.
The fact that I can only have local Anaesthetic and paracetamol for pain relief and I have to be awake which isn’t great.
The X-ray risk I’ve been made aware of.
The recovery risk to get fever which I know isn’t great for pregnancy.
My doctor/ dentist has given me antibiotics and told to use a mouth wash multiple times a day to try get rid of the infection and my best bet is to hope it can be delayed until my baby is born.
That’s only if the infection doesn’t return, which is very possible the way my tooth is angled, and also having this operation with a new born doesn’t exactly sound great either.
Does anyone have any advice or have you been through similar, I’m scared and not sure what to do.
