Will you get the Covid vaccine while pregnant ?

My OB recommends it and my state is starting to prioritize pregnant ladies so I may get the option sooner than I thought. Thank you for participating

My OB is also recommending it, but pregnancy is not yet prioritized in my state. More than 20,000 pregnant people in the US have been vaccinated, so we should have more data soon. Everything is pointing to this being a safe vaccine during pregnancy. The decision really comes down to weighing the good vs the bad. We don’t know everything about the effects of the vaccine, but we do know the effects of COVID during pregnancy. We’re at higher risk of requiring medical intervention including intubation. We’re also at higher risk of death. The vaccine will also offer some immunity to the babies once born, approximate 12 weeks. I trust the science and my doctor and hope that I’ll be able to get the vaccine before my due date.

I’m in Australia and have been told I won’t be eligible until after bub is born as there’s not enough research. I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed to get it whilst breastfeeding but will definitely be asking!

I’m debating it. Originally I was definitely going to wait until done breastfeeding, but the data coming out seems to point toward there being benefits to getting vaccinated while pregnant (or breastfeeding) in terms of passing on antibodies to baby. I still have a few more months to decide, but this type of vaccine (mRNA) is safe during pregnancy (unlike live vaccines like chicken pox), it’s just the specifics that are unknown.

I'm on the edge of saying yes and no. There's not enough research on the covid vaccine for both pregnant and nursing moms. I'm 3 months pregnant and still breastfeeding my 2nd child who is 1.5 years old. I don't feel secure enough to have the vaccine. In my city, only healthcare workers and educators (includes daycare workers) are eligible for the vaccine. I work part time at a retail store. Since the pandemic began, I haven't fallen sick nor tested positive so I'm not too concerned since I take proper precautions. There's certain vaccines you can get while pregnant and others you can't. For example, i was able to get both the flu vaccine and TDAP vaccine, but not the measles booster vaccine (when the measles outbreak happened, i was pregnant and they tested to see if I was still immune which turned out I needed the booster) so that's why I'm on the edge lol. My kids do have their vaccines yet I don't think I'll have them get the COVID vaccine unless it's required for them to go to daycare or for school.
