This oldman is harassing me at my local grocery store š
Okaayyy, so listen...Iāve lived in this neighborhood for about 15+ years and Iāve always gone to this same grocery straight up the ally from my home. Itās convenient. Since new ownership it has a much larger selection. I usually go in maybe once or twice to gather my food for the week. I usually run out of dog food mid week and return for the second trip, so it can be fresh. I make my dogs food from scratch. Since, new ownership theyāve hired..Iād say as nicely as I can....some of the most ignorant ppl.
Your standing in line, right?..and they will continue their bickering with a colleague. Hesitate. and THEN, grab your items to ring you out...yes you all know these kinds of ppl...theyāre so ruthless for no reason.
For that very reason I stopped going to this grocery. Now, I will only stop at this grocery in a pinch...for my dogs food only. So thatās maybe twice a month now.
Since new ownership, theyāve hired a security guard. He stands right at the entrance just inside the grocery. The first time i saw him, I walked straight past him and thru the vegetables aisle per usual. I check out and on my way out he said to me āyou are very beautifulā. MIND you, Ik Iām beautiful sir...but itās not about that. Second, Iām wearing a mask that IS way to big for my face. So you see my eyes and my eyebrows, and thatās about it, but okay..fine.. itās a complement from someone Iāve never seen before, great. Thank you and I keep walking.
Since this day, anytime I came into this grocery, the complements would escalate! This old dude will continuously call me beautiful on my way in and on my way out. On my way out he alway has something else to say with it along the line of āyour man is so lucky, I pray for himā. āYou are a very lucky womanā āyou are very beautifulā. He stopped the entire checkout crowd to announce to the lobby how I, keep my nails done, keep my hair done bs bs bs.... š³ yāall......I even trying to explain this to my dad and he literally said āa man canāt complement a female???ā
At this point Iāve had it. I donāt even say anything or acknowledge the security guards talking about whatever to me. I wore my AirPods to the grocery in a pinch if I needed to. But now, the young men that are checking out my grocery order are doing the same thing and I am heated.
Iām not a rude person in public, but I am very blunt. The next time I went to the grocery I brought my dad as a tag along. On our way out I heard security mutter a word, I stopped and said Im sorry, excuse me? And he said āI said, you are very beautifulā. I reply with āyou say that every time I come in hereā he nodded and smiled. Very sternly I said, Iād like you to stop. His smile burned from his face as I said, āand continue to stop, when I come back in hereā. He shook his head is disbelief or whatever as we walked out. My dad is clueless to what stands as harassment.
I usually say thank you after the first time someone complements me because Iām not rude, and I can understand a complement. Maybe, I literally am the most beautiful person this dude has ever seen..But after the second, the third, the tenth+? And after the third I completely stopped even acknowledging you..and you continue. And I already look displeased by the shape of my eyebrows and Ik! Because my eyebrows reflect my expression so accurately is bad sometimes. And I even verbally, with a witness asked you to stop...
Iām typing now because today is the first time in about 2 months since I went back to this grocery and the only reason why I did it is because my dogs needed ground beef, carrots, and rice. and I did not have it. On top of that, I had to return to the office for work training so my 1-2 hr commute takes up a lot of time. This grocery is convenientš¤¦šæāāļø..
I just want to know your thought and suggestions.
Would you report this issue to management?
Would you never go back?
Would you square tf up?
Eat the complements..?š¤¢
I need to know for my mental health š.
(Note: Im wise and cautious. Iām licensed to carry, and Iām very agile. No one could endanger me in this grocery, I just wanna shop without being bothered)
