Playard instead of crib?

Could you use a playard like this as a crib or would I have to buy a crib regardless after the baby outgrows the attachable bassinet in the picture?? Thanks in advance ladies!!

Just so you're aware, the baby does NOT sleep in the part on top. That is just for naps when you can keep an eye on baby at all times.

There is a piece that comes with the pack n play that elevates & suspends bottom mat inside the pack n play and THAT is what they consider the bassinet and where baby should sleep. Please make sure to read the manual and its guidelines if you purchase this.

My baby will be sleeping in the pack n play next to my bed for the first couple of months. I thought the same thing about the piece on top, but it's highly advised against and it's actually quite dangerous for baby to sleep there.

Wld it be an issue to just put a newborn in a crib? My mom said crib wld be too big!

I have friends who travel for their husbands work and have their little ones sleep in a pack and play no problem :) both were around 16-18mo

I have one like that except the storage is a pouch that hangs off the side so I didn't have to bend over so low since I have a bad back. I would really suggest buying a nice but cheap bassinet as the napper on the packnplay (which should really only be used for naps) has a small incline and it will be harder to transition baby to a crib than if you were to start them off on a flat mattress because they get used to the inclined position.

We are getting both. As the playcrib is less bulky than a normal crib, it will be easier to have our baby in the same room as us. Later on we will move our baby girl to her own room, and still have a portable crib for when we sleepover at the grandparents

That's what we're going to do as well. With my last baby she had a crib in her room and she never slept in it. So with this baby, we're getting a playpen (pack n' play) to put beside our bed.

That's what we are doing.  We have a pack and play for him because we don't have a ton of rm and they store easy.

That's what we're getting at least for the first 6 months or so. One with a removable bouncing seat.
