Stressful labor
Went in on 2/24 at 39w5d for my “40” week appointment got checked and was at 3cm so dr did a sweep to hopefully get things started. Seeing I was almost 40weeks the dr said we could induce on 2/25 but my s/o and I decided to wait until 2/26 which was our due date and we wanted the extra day to spend with our other 2 kids. Fast forward to 4am on 2/26 I woke up with infrequent contractions that were not very painful so I was able to fall back asleep until 5:45 when our alarm went off. I was still having contractions every 5-6 minutes but was able to get dressed and do my hair/makeup. By 6:45 we where out the door and on our way to the hospital to be induced. We got to the hospital and checked in by 7:30am then in our room and hooked up to monitors by 7:45 nurse sees I’m having contractions and we decided to just labor on my own for a while to see what happens. By 8:47 the dr came in and broke my water after that things went quick. Not even 10 minutes later I was telling my boyfriend to get the nurse I wanted the epidural so nurse came in and checked me I was at 7cm so she went out of the room got an iv and got everything set up for me to get the epidural. By 9:30 I had the epidural but I started to vomit and baby did not like that at all and his heart rate started dropping so the had me try turning to my back and my right side but that didn’t work. At this point my right side was numb but they had me get on my hands an knees and baby’s heart rate started to come back up. This went on for about 1 hour of me vomiting on and off and going from my side to back to hands and knees. I ended up pushing most of the time on my hands an knees due to baby liking that position best. By 12:10 I was able to get back to my back and push however I felt everything cause epidural was still only working on my right side by 12:22 baby boy was born weighing 9lb8oz and 22in. We where shocked at how big he was even the dr and all the nurses that were in the room couldn’t believe he was that big. At one point the dr did mention the chance of having to do an emergency c section due to me vomiting and him not tolerating it but thankfully It didn’t come to that. We are so happy to have our 3rd and final baby boy. He is a very chill happy and healthy little dude. And yes we knew about his cleft lip at 20weeks and he has no feeding issues so he is able to breast and bottle feed and will be getting his cleft fixed when he is 3months old.
