Conceiving without postpartum period

Hello, my little one turns 1 in two weeks and I still don’t have a postpartum period but we would like to try to conceive. Anyone successful with that? What are signs of ovulation without a period? Did you need to wean to conceive? My 1 year old is my second and I had two periods after my first before I conceived him so. Thanks in advance for any advice/shared experience! Also tips in general for learning more about tracking your cycle and ovulation, I have no experience with it at all!
