How can I do it??

I'm in a relationship that I can't leave because I'm financially dependent on him. I've been wanting to leave for a long time but there's no where I can go. I work, but I only make $1200-$1400 a month. We also have a son together, and I wanna go back to school for a 15-month LPN program. I just dont know how that would be possible to live by myself with my son & go to school to make more money. It seems so impossible with no way out. I know there's state assistance, im just not sure what I can get. Has anyone been in my situation before that can give me some pointers?
