Anxiety Medication
Has anyone been on daily anxiety meds for 10+ years, began making positive life changes like better diet, exercise, just getting wiser with age, etc. Then found they went through stages where it felt like maybe this positive behaviour might be causing their current anxiety medication to, either, not be working right, or maybe even making things worse??
Like, maybe these positive changes have allowed your body and mind to realize it doesn’t need this medication (or maybe not as much of it) in its system anymore??
I’ve been going through spurts of feeling great! I’ve lost over 30 lbs in the past 2 years, I’ve gotten back to my healthy eating and exercise habits, and have just been very happy with my job and home life!
I’ve noticed that once in a while I’ll be feeling amazing, then all the sudden I’ll start getting anxious again and tired. I will have gone months without needing to take my “chill pills” (ones I only take when needed), to all the sudden needing one a day for a week.
I’ve had anxiety and ocd issues since I was very young and it does seem like I will need to be on meds my entire life. But lately I’ve been wondering if maybe I MIGHT ACTUALLY be able to be one of those people who doesn’t have to be on daily medication! 😅
Honestly, I don’t see that happening. Like I said, I’ve been on meds since I was 16 and they’ve helped TREMENDOUSLY!! But I have had to switch medications a couple of times and increase doses throughout the years.
I just can’t help but worry about possible long term affects of being on medication my whole life, when things like meditation and herbal remedies (I can’t do any herbal remedies as it messes with my current meds) seem to be helping so many ppl!
Anyway, if you’ve stuck with me through this long ass post and have any advice or personal experience you’d like to share, I’d love to hear it, and say THANK YOU for taking the time! 😊
Many thanks!
Jess.
