My bf just admitted he loves his ex...

He even went out for dinner with her last night. My heart is broken.. He says he loves me but then says if he were single and she would give him a chance, he would be with her. He says he's really sorry and I'm his world but i find that difficult to believe. He wants to make things work. He says he needs and loves me endlessly. What would you do?
