Dating someone in the military

Alright, I'm not really sure how to word this so I will just start from the beginning.

My boyfriend works in ministry, and recently he's been talking about how he doesn't feel that it's his calling anymore to teach. He won't go into detail about what happened but he just got through a really rough time where he picked up alcohol and maybe went a little wild. All he's told me is that he blew all his money and almost lost everything that he cared about. I had taken a conpleate step back out of his life when he started getting weird and finally walked back in yesterday only to find out he lost his job, money was all blown through, his glasses were stolen, wallet missing, and thst he spent a couple days sleeping outside, but he promised me he didn't have sex with anyone and the last time he did anything with any girl it was with me. Actually we were at subway when he was telling me all of this. And angry me looked at him and said Ohh ya sure like I believe that with all this stuff your telling me. So he practically yells in subway I love you and only want to have sex with you, would like to go back to my apartment and do so now? A little embarrassing but I'll believe him. So this while we are sitting there he continues to tell me he's thought about it and ministry isn't where he should be. He tells me he feels his real calling is the military. He said he doesn't feel like he's going anywhere with what he's doing now and he wants to make a difference in the world. I support him hole heartedly but I've never actually been with someone who's in the military. Is it hard? What does it Intel? Just kind of curious as he starts to go through this.
