Am I overreacting?

Anna

Hi everyone! I’m seeking for advice on this

I’m almost 20yo and have been on birth control (I use Evra) since I was 16 and I love it, but I notice some varicose veins and got it checked out with an angiologist, because even though it’s genetic, I’m too young to have it.

He said that the estrogen on the birth control accelerated the process of forming the varicose veins and recommended changing my birth control for one that only has progesterone in it.

I called my gynecologist and she said the same thing, and my options are either the Kyleena IUD or progesterone pills, but I dislike both of these options because it’s gonna cease my period, and that to me is equivalent to someone saying that I’ll never go to the bathroom again. Also I hate the idea of a strange thing inside my body causing me cramps and spotting 😭

But if I don’t change my birth control, the varicose veins will get worse and more severe as time goes by.

I wanted to stop taking birth control and I do use condoms every time I have sex and have always used it, but I feel so scared, I feel like I’m obligated to take something to feel safe, it makes me feel like I’m a hostage or something :(

Anyway, I wanted to know if I’m overreacting with this, if anyone has gone through something similar, what you would do/feel if you were in my situation, I mean any advice at all hahah I feel completely lost, it would feel good to have someone look at this from a different perspective 💗
