It’s very important. You have no idea what kinds of bacteria clothes have come into contact with before you bought them. They’re also commonly treated with products containing formaldehyde and other chemicals to prevent wrinkling, mold, or fire retardants. Studies have found fecal matter and staph bacteria on new clothing. 
If you’re worried about your babies reaction to detergent you should be buying free and clear/ unscented detergent anyway as it is less likely to cause eczema and other skin problems. 
It’s in your little one’s best interest to pre-wash baby clothes! No question.

I prefer to wash all the clothes because you never know who or what has touched them. Or if there’s anything on them that may irritate baby’s skin. The clothes have to be washed at some point.... 
I use tide free and gentle. My son had very sensitive skin and eczema and we’ve never had any issues.

What if baby is sensitive to the detergent ? I’m in the between . Because it can be vise versa .

I don’t even like wearing unwashed clothes myself. 
Just use a free and clear detergent.
