Can I go to labor and delivery without an appointment?

I am 30 weeks and think I am having contractions. I have had what feels like Braxton Hicks probably 8 times in the last 30 minutes. I think I should go to L&D because I also have abdominal pain. Can I go without being told to?

My hospital encourages a phone call to the department first, but they are pretty good about walk ins

I would call but they will probably either tell you what to try to stop the Braxton Hicks/Contractions or they’ll have you come in

Depends on your hospital. Mine likes you to call your doctor to triage first, but I don’t think they would turn you away. Maybe try calling your after hours doctor line, or call the hospital and ask?
