What age or weight do babies grow out of their first car seat?

Thats not a black/white answer because it depends on if you use an infant or convertible. Also depends on each brand. Most infant seats are between 25-35lbs weight limit

With my first I transitioned her at one but with my second we went ahead and got the next car seat at 6 months because I was tired of carrying it around

The manual that comes with the car seat wi have the specifications for the weight/height limit.  It is incredibly important to read the manual.  As a previous poster said, it also depends on if it is an infant or a convertible seat, those have very different specifications.

Depends on the baby. I used an infant car seat for both my kids and I switched to a convertible when they reached the highest strap level and it was getting close to not fitting. My first was 9/10 months and my second was 7/8 months.
