What to do for biting?

He is 19 months. He had only bit myself or his brother and I thought it was done, but he bit another child and I’m needing advice on how to address it. TIA

Answer

When my son went through his biting phase the most important thing for us was figuring out the trigger or triggers. What his babysitter and I figured out was it was when another child was invading his space or I wasn’t paying attention to him when he wanted it. 
So we started trying to intervene before those things happened. Sometimes with me not paying attention to him it was hard to intervene. 
We also constantly talked about how we don’t bite people. Our friends don’t want to play with us if we hurt them. Hurting our friends makes them sad, etc. 
We had one really rough month and it was over.

Oh this is my fear as well, my daughter started biting recently too (18months), but we've really been trying to work on triggers and routines for tantrums to help her cope better with big feelings, she was biting after she didn't get her way and got too wound up in her tantrums. Its still a work in progress, but we talk to her about being gentle and when she does something that hurts we say ouch etc, basically trying to point out how its not okay to hurt ppl
