Pregnant women not mothers?

Everyone knows Mother’s Day is coming up, should a pregnant woman be gifted something? She’s carrying the child but there’s a lot of people who would still not consider her a mother until that child is born. Thoughts?

You're a mother even if your child isn't born yet. It's still your child. You're also a mother if you've lost a child. I think it's ridiculous that people say you're not a mother or father if the child isn't yet born. As soon as that child is conceived, you're parents.

Being pregnant and being a parent are two entirely different ball games. I don’t consider myself a mom just because I’m pregnant so I’d prefer not to celebrate it until after the baby is born.

There was a poll about this recently and majority said they wouldn’t celebrate Mother’s Day if their baby was not yet born. I agree with that but if someone wanted to celebrate I don’t see anything wrong with it. I certainly wouldn’t expect anyone to get me a gift or anything though.

yes. why wouldn’t she be gifted something? she’s pregnant, and growing a child that she will soon have. even if a woman unfortunately miscarries, has a chemical, etc i feel they are still a mother. same goes for father’s day, i think a man should receive a gift when his partner is pregnant too.

Personally I didn’t want a Mother’s Day gift when pregnant and this year is the first year we’ll do something at all because our 3 year old can actually help my husband with it.

Just because the baby isn’t born yet doesn’t mean she’s not a mom. Who is dictating who gets to celebrate Mother’s or Father’s Day anyway?
