Crib mattress? Newton worth the hype?

So im looking into crib mattresses. I heard of the Newton breathable mattress but its quite expensive!! Especially US to CAD conversation it comes to like 400$. 
I have a 100$ gift card from a mattress store and they are selling a Safety 1st crib mattress that seems to be good for 170$ which is a lot more affordable! 
What do you guys think? Should I splurge and get the Newton or stick to the Safety 1st?

I would not spend that much on a crib mattress. I researched and got a good one for less than $90.

Honestly I love ours. It’s pricey, but when it comes to my child’s safety I think there’s no amount of money you can put on that. I had the Owlet with him when he was a baby, and it was also a sanity saver.

I was all for it and then I just decided a $400
Mattress wasn’t worth it. I found one on Amazon that was better priced and had better reviews. In all honesty, as long as it’s firm, I don’t need a Newton. Baby will be on back and if they flip over I’m sure I can rig something up until they sleep on their back again.

I never had a breathable mattress. Baby sleeps on their back anyway. By the time they're big enough to roll over, their nervous system is developed enough that they can turn their heads and not sleep through feeling suffocated.
