Baby girl made her arrival on her due date!
I went to my last doctors appointment on Friday at 39w5d. My doctor checked my cervix, which was only dilated half a centimeter 😩
After my appointment, I decided to head to target and grab an exercise ball to start bouncing on and trying to induce labor. I bounced for almost the rest of the day. That night, I started to get contractions that were slightly painful, but able to sleep through. I timed them, they were only 8-10 minutes apart, and tapered off around 6am. I continued to get them occasionally throughout the day. Cue more bouncing!
Around 5, my boyfriend and I started cleaning the house in case we would have to go to the hospital soon. I started losing my mucus plug in the process, but still I wasn’t convinced I was in true labor. Then, around 6:15, we sat down on the couch to watch TV and I felt another contraction coming on. I decided to time it, and right when it started, I felt 2 huge gushes and ran to the bathroom. My water broke, just like in the movies! I’m sitting on the toilet, unable to get up because I just keep gushing. Meanwhile, my boyfriend is running around like a chicken with its head cut off getting everything put in the car.
We get to the hospital and get admitted around 6:45, I was already at 4 centimeters. I tried bouncing on the labor ball again, but gave up as my contractions were becoming unbearable. At 6 cm, I got the epidural. Baby’s heart rate started to decline and they flipped me in a bunch of different positions for an hour, trying to get it back up. The doctor came in around 1:20am to see what was up with her and check me again, and she said it was time to start pushing!
I pushed for 8 minutes, and baby girl was born at 1:48am on her due date 💗 I didn’t tear up or down, just inside and had a few stitches. I couldn’t have asked for a better labor.
