Birth control opinions !?

I got pregnant on the pill so I wanna try something different and I’m stuck between the iud or the implant ? I really struggle with weight so I want the minimum effect on that

I have been on a few different types of birth control pills and the implant. I have never used an IUD because I didn't like the thought of something up there. I haven't noticed weight gain specifically with any of the methods. The implant change over went pretty smoothly as well and even helped me during that time of the month. However I've also had friends that when they got the implant and also IUD for the first three months seriously messed with their moods. Unfortunately with birth control you have to figure out what's best for you. A good rule of them that I've noticed from my personal experience is that if the pills mess with you the implant will, and a 50/50 for the IUD. That being said I like the implant and it's kind of comforting for me to be able to feel it with no side effects.

If your overweight already, over 175lbs, STAY AWAY FROM THE IMPLANT! I knew 2 overweight women, one slightly over the limit and one big time over, that both miscarried heavily deformed fetuses at 5-6 MONTHS gestation after getting the implant. Because I was always over the limit my dr told me flat out they would never recommend the implant as an option it was pretty much birth control pill as the only option before having kids. After having a kid I got the iud, got pregnant on birth control twice even when taking it perfectly, but after having the iud I suffered from secondary infertility from 2014-2021... I blasted my current dr who recommended the implant to me AT MY FIRST OBGYN appointment for this pregnancy. That was my first meeting with this dr and practice and I am not very confident with them because of it. Also I gained 100lbs with the iud, not that it was the reason it happened, but it didn’t help! Sorry to be all bad news here but it’s not like we have endless options, as I am allergic to latex also!!! I don’t know what I’ll do for birth control after this baby, but that’s a problem for next year.

Everyone reacts differently. I used depo injection for 3years but I gained so much weight, I also did the implant for 2years and again the weight gain happened. The only thing for me that didn't cause weight gain was the pill..I also know people that used the implant and injection that didn't gain weight, so it all depends on how your body reacts 🙂
