OBGYN or FERTILITY SPECIALIST?!

Hey ladies, I’ve been going back and forth about whether to get my GP to refer me to an obgyn or a fertility specialist. We’ve been ttc for 9 months now with absolutely no luck. I live in Ontario. So we have public health insurance for most routine/diagnostic tests. And I’m assuming going to a fertility specialist involves more out of pocket fees. 
My GP has already sent me for blood work and ultrasound which came back normal. My husband was sent for semen analysis. Is there any other tests that an obgyn could send me for other than those to help me? Or should I go straight to the fertility specialist? 
If anyone is from Ontario and knows how it works here, I appreciate the advice! We want a baby so bad but don’t want to spend a fortune either 😔.

I’m not sure if Canada has “guidelines” like US does- but if you’re under 35 infertility won’t see you and start a work up until you’ve been TTC without success x12 months OR if there’s something else going on (ex: abnormal labs or semen that your GP ordered). Some OB’s will prescribe Clomid but not do monitoring with it.

Not sure how it operates in Canada but in the US most fertility places won’t see you until you’ve been trying Atleast a year

If it’s anything like the US, fertility doctors won’t even make an appt with you until you’ve been trying for at least 12 months. Definitely look into the requirements for your area. Might be good to start with the OB and then get their opinion on if you should go to the fertility specialist. The OB may be able to prescribe something to help you. (Like if you’re progesterone levels are low, they can prescribe a pill to help regulate it, which helps with conceiving),
