Can you get pregnant while breastfeeding?

I keep hearing so many mixed answers. My thought is, you can, especially if you’re having your period. I keep telling people I’m stressed about getting pregnant again and they always reply “oh don’t worry about it! You’re breastfeeding you can’t get pregnant!” I just don’t see how that can be true haha. I googled it and the answers were pretty mixed as well. Or it would say there’s a slim chance. I just feel like since I’m getting my period that my chances are just as likely as it would be if I wasn’t breastfeeding. Someone settle this😂
