Question for nurses who work 3 12-hour shifts in hospitals and self schedule:

If you have to work mandatory weekend shifts, which week does Sunday count as? For example:

Week 1: you work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday as your three shifts

Week 2: you’re required to work Saturday and Sunday shifts. Does that Sunday count towards week 2 or the next week (week 3)?

Another question: if it is your scheduled weekend, but something has come up on that Saturday and you need to take off, are you allowed to use your PTO on a scheduled weekend day?
