Did your toddlers hate shoes?

My son is 13 months and I just got him his first pair of shoes and he HATES them. I got the super light flexible ones and he’s not having it. I bought tickets to take him to this cool farm on Sunday and needed shoes for it and now I’m worried he won’t enjoy it and can’t walk around. He’s been walking since 10 months but haven’t needed a reason for shoes yet. Any suggestions?

Maybe try to buy some that light up so he is excited to wear them.

My kid loved them as soon as she realized they meant easier to run outside. We got her a pair of stride rite and she never looked back lol

At that age my son liked wearing Attipas shoes, they pull on like socks so may be more comfortable. I’d see if you could try them on though as they are more on the pricey side. They are designed/recommended by podiatrists.
I see a lot of recommendations for crocs but unfortunately they’re not ideal for prolonged use in early walkers as they can lead to things like toe-gripping.
Once he’s wearing them is he ok? If it’s only really the ‘putting on’ part he has trouble with you could also try making this part fun/rewarding for him in some way. Singing a special shoe song, getting him to ‘help’ with your shoes first, giving him a choice between 2 pairs of shoes, etc. Good luck!

Practice. My daughter is pretty sensitive around her feet and hates walking without socks even. Last year I could not get her to run in the grass with bare feet 🙈
Shoes is a new thing. Practice. See if you can find books about shoes. Maybe find some that light up! Maybe he is a bit to young but mos tkids love them. And then show how you are wearing shoes. And others.

Let them pick out there shoes..And  keep the shoes on while your at home...all day...

You'll just have to keep trying them on and make it fun. They would feel weird if he's never had them.
