Hello all,

My name is Dianne and I am a first time mother to an amazing baby boy. He was born at 34 weeks and 3 days gestational age. He is 38 weeks 1 day gestational age and will turn 4 weeks old on Friday. He has been soo good and with no problems but learning on how to pass poop and gas.

This is my first post on this platform. I have noticed in the past 5 1/2 days my son has had nasal congestion. Day 1/2, I removed it with a suction and it was green that first night. Day 2, he didn't have nasal congestion until nighttime when of course I had misplaced my suction and could not remove the hard nasal discharge that was in the high-mid section of both nares. So day 3, the next morning, we got an electric suction and some nasal drops to help loosen the discharge --- still green. Day 4, I noticed he sounded like he was congested in his throat area. As I was doing his oral care, I noticed he had what looked like 2 thrush spots towards the top, back palate of the roof of his mouth and 1 on the left upper gum where his teeth should be. For the past 3 days, he has been cluster feeding and is in a growth spurt (I'm assuming) so he is almost feeding every 1 hour insatiably. Today is day 5 and he sounds even more congested. We made an appointment with Pediatrician today, but I wanted to see if anyone had any previous experience or insight.

He has no fever, no cough, and no other type of discharge. He has either very sticky or hardened nasal discharge in both nares, more fussy than normal, morr sneezes than normal, sounds like he is snoring when sleeping, hoarse throat sounds when making sounds, and more congested breaths sounds on expiration occasionally.

So far, he has typically been a well tempered infant until these past few days. He typically is only fussy when trying to figure out how to poop and pass gas or when hungry, but now more fussy and looks uncomfortable when awake. I am hoping it is just congestion and nothing more. I have pulled out the humidifier and the air purifier as we are in a brand new house and it had bern been very dry the past few days. I will let you all know what the doctor tells us.
