Membrane sweep ?

Question

For those that have had a sweep done how was it? I get it done Thursday and curious if it hurts and how things go afterward(I know not everyone is the same. Just looking for personal experiences) lol

I had my done for both my boys. For my 1st son i got it done on a Thursday at 37 weeks and had him on sunday.. my 2nd son i got it also done on a Thursday at 38 weeks and had him on sunday too lol im 36 weeks 3 days pregnant with a girl hoping to get a sweep soon

I had them with my first. The first one on my due date which was not super uncomfortable and did nothing, the next a few days later which was very uncomfortable and that NP prided herself on her membrane sweeps working. My water broke about 36 hours later. Personally I would not do it again unless I was staring down induction or something because I have a feeling those two sweeps are the reason my water broke and I was then in labor for 18 hours and contractions without the fluid to cushion are much more uncomfortable. Plus water breaking puts you on a time line and you can’t labor in the tub etc. 
I declined all cervix checks and sweeps with my second and my water did not break with her until I requested it be broken at 9cm. The contractions were so much better with that intact fluid and I labored in the tub till I was about 7cm which was amazing. Hoping for a similar labor and delivery this time. 🤞🏻

Had mine done because I was in early labor wanting to speed things up because I was having such close contractions that weren’t doing much. Came in the next morning to L&D and had him that evening. It’s uncomfortable and my doctor said if you’re body is truly ready, you’ll have a baby in 48 hours! Good luck!

I’ve had it with all 3 and plan to this coming week with #4.
So if done correctly it is uncomfortable and to me it hurts . But if your body is ready it will help labor . My last I had it at 39&40 weeks . At 39 I just had a lot of cramping but it went no where . At 40 I went into labor like 48 hours later . Idk if it was bc of the sweep or not though . 
I’m definitely doing it again though hoping it will help!

I had one with my daughter at 39 weeks (second baby). I was having some contractions and was 1cm. It was definitely uncomfortable, but it got me to 5cm and my water ended up breaking so was sent straight to hospital. She was born, I would say two-three hours after.

I had two membrane sweeps in my 39th week with my daughter because I was literally not making any progress on my own. I wouldn’t say it hurt, but it definitely was uncomfortable.

I had it with my last baby. We swept at 37+ and 38+. I was scheduled for induction at 39 and I would say by a day or two after the second sweep I was having significant contractions and lost mucus plug. It was same day as my induction so we just headed to the hospital anyway. I think it helped cause labor to start earlier then it would have without it

With my last, I had mine stripped 3 times.  It’s very uncomfortable, not painful, and only lasts a few seconds.
