Is it okay for someone to take baby from you without asking?

Last night my roommate took my son from my arms without even asking me because he was crying, and then he stopped crying for a minute while she held him so she said he must’ve needed a break from me and I was making him upset. It really hurt my feelings.

If she wanted to help, she could have said "hey, you want me to try to hold him for a few and give you a break?"

My mother in law did that to me after years of treating me like shit. That was the last straw. My husband lost it on her and me him and our child didnt see her for 6 months!  Nothing no word to her at all just out of her life!  Finally my husband wanted to try and fix the situation since she is family so he staryed talking to her and slowly i let my child go and i waited another two months before i spoke to her. And from that moment on she knew not to push me

Then you need to tell her that. Be honest and open. That would hurt anyone's feelings. Also you are your child's safe place.

Depends on the person and situation. Sometimes kids can take things differently from different people. Your son might not have necessarily been needing a break from you because you’re bothering him, but maybe just having someone else step in and help was the final touch that he needed. I try to help friends with their kids sometimes because I know sometimes it helps kids hearing things from other people.

I don’t care so much that someone else can make the baby not cry, but I’d be pissed if someone took my baby without asking. 
Honestly if someone approached and and looked as if they were taking the baby from me, I’d ask them ‘what are you doing?’ To give them an opportunity to explain. Most times when someone takes the baby from me it’s my husband and baby can’t calm down with me because I’m beyond my limit of being calm.
