Suspected anembryonic pregnancy

Hello,

We’ve been trying for 5 years now. I miscarried my first pregnancy at 22 weeks due to intrauterine infection caused by incompetent cervix. Even though we did emergency cerclage, it was too late. My baby got level three infection.

After six months, we tried and got pregnant again, but this time my doctor is indirectly telling me that it may be a miscarriage. During my doctor’s visit, I was supposed to be at least 7 weeks pregnant, but the gestational sac size is for 4 weeks. I was asked to come back two weeks later and still no fetal heartbeat.

My question is, if we do try again what are the chances that something like this happens again? Is this something to do with my hormonal balance? Or purely chromosomal issue? O
