1 year of TTC
One year ago today I stopped my birth control pills. I had high hopes that I would be pregnant within the year. Trying to make sure this happened I gave up caffeine, started walking and exercising more, and just trying to be healthy. However, I started to pack on pounds, no matter how few calories I had in day. By July I was pretty down, And had gained 20 pounds since December and always tired. In September I finally gave up and went to my doctor and found out my TSH level was 45 (it should only be around 3). It seems I have had a thyroid issue for a long time, but the hormones from the birth control was masking the condition. Now I have gained 30 pounds, and there seems to be no end in sight of the weight gain. I have been on medication since September, but it does not seem to be helping a lot, and my doctor keeps saying it is going to take awhile to see a change. She refuses to recommend me to an endocrinologist, so insurance will not pay for me to go to one. It has been a frustrating year to say the least. I hope and pray when we move in January to another state I can find a doctor that is willing to work with me.
