No lab work?

I'm 5 weeks 3 days and I've asked twice to have my levels checks and the doctors say not till 8 weeks is it necessary...but I see so many woman getting lab work done as soon as they find out there pregnant...

If you have no history of miscarriage or fertility issues it’s more common than not that they won’t check your levels at all.

I never had any lab work done for either pregnancy until i was 10-11 weeks pregnant

People make it seem common in this app but you don’t need it if there’s no concerns. Most of the people who get it is because they’ve gone through fertility treatments or have history of recurrent losses

I’m not sure why the reason for that would be. My OB orders lab work as soon as I get a positive test because they won’t see me until it’s confirmed through blood.

If you truly want labs, when you speak with your doctor say “Can you please note it in my chart that I’ve asked for labs twice but was denied?”...I guarantee you will get labs then, if you really want them. You have to advocate for yourself, especially if you feel there is a problem.

I have three kids 2 girls and a boy am carrying baby number four and I have had 9 miscarriages and have never had this done and don’t know anybody who has I don’t know if it’s just in certain areas or for people getting help with fertility maybe ?

Me personally I would be asking as well and would make sure I get it a lot of times u have to be your own advocate. I see a previous person telling saying to have them notate on ur chart that you asked and they say no.  U can also always go to urgent care as well but I would definitely push the issue if u feel it’s important to u.

Some women are high risk and others find out later than 5 weeks. I had to wait for my lab work but my friend didn’t because she didn’t know she was pregnant until 7 weeks

I guess every OB is different. My first appointment I was 6 weeks 6 days and they did all kinds of lab work. But I also had never been to the OB before
