SHOULD I STOP CLOMID IF FOURTH CYCLE FAILED?

I have been on Clomid since February. This month is my fourth cycle, and i have been ovulating  the past months but no success. My husband wants me to stop Clomid if this cycle fails so he can get tested for any signs of infertility. I’m doctor only recommends 6 months of Clomid, and she hasn’t been following up. I had an appt in April to see if the medication was working. And she only asked if i got a positive opk. But she hasn’t done any blood work or ultrasound to confirm ovulation. I’m not sure if this is something normal? Or what my options are? My husband wants to try IUI with Clomid, but my doctor said that IUI can only be done at a specialist office, and she can refer me once all the attempts with Clomid fail. Has anyone stop Clomid before 6 months ? and why ? Any advice would help! Thank you!

I would ask your doctor about letrozole. It works the same with developing follicles, but sometimes one works better than the other for certain people. Clomid can cause CM issues during ovulation but Letrozole never did for me

Is the clomid being prescribed by your obgyn or a reproductive endocrinologist? I did 3 cycles through my obgyn who wasn’t monitoring me on it so I never knew why it wasn’t successful until I began seeing an RE at a fertility center. She had me do a bunch of tests and found another cause of my problems so I continued clomid with monitoring and other meds from her and I feel way better about continuing.

I tried clomid and wasn’t ovulating. No monitoring.

Got rid of ovarian cancer and started on femara. On my very last cycle, I got pregnant. No monitoring other than checking my progesterone in cd21 (ovulated on cd14-16)
You do NOT need a referral for an RE and there are other tests they can run.
It may just be the clomid too.

She should be doing at least a blood test on cd24 too see if you’re ovulating. Ovulation test are not accurate when on clomid. The medication can alter it. This is odd.

I was on clomid for about 3 cycles but I decided to stop it and get on birth control to help my cycle since I wasn’t having a period and I had been diagnosed with pcos and I wasn’t ovulating, I got pregnant naturally the month after I stopped clomid.

You don’t need a referral to see a fertility specialist.  Call them yourself and set up and appointment.
My doctor did the same thing to me.  I was on Clomid for 6 months and nothing happened.  I asked my doctor if I could take some other tests to see what the problem was and he actually told me that there were no other tests to take.  I also told him that I was noticing my blood sugars were increasing after being on the Clomid and he said it wasn’t the Clomid but that my diabetes were getting worse.  I asked if I should seek a fertility specialist and he said that I would need a referral and he wanted me to continue the Clomid for a while longer.
I was SO fed up! So I finally called the fertility doctor myself and asked what I needed to do to get aj appointment.  And that’s when I learned that I did NOT need a referral!  All I had to do was set up an appointment and go.  I never saw that quack of a doctor again.
Also, my new doctor ran all the tests on both me and my husband and we had unexplained infertility.  He put me on letrozole with a trigger shot and I got pregnant within 3 months.
Be your own advocate,  if this Clomid isn’t working, ask for something new.  Or better yet, go ahead and call the fertility specialist yourself and get the ball rolling. Good luck to you on your journey!

Positive opk doesn’t mean you ovulated when you’re on clomid. I was on the 50mg and got my positive opks but confined with OvuSense I was not ovulating. We upped it to 100mg and OvuSense confirmed ovulation. Unfortunately with the medication opks aren’t necessarily reliable
