No more pacifier?

Question

How have you mommas went about removing the pacifier from your LO’s? Mine will be two in August, and wanting to go ahead and take it away.

With my big kids, I cut off the end and told them it was broken.  They each asked for it the first night and I reminded them it was broken.  That was the end of it. 
I haven’t taken August baby’s yet as I’m due with another right around his second birthday

We are still using them too, it used to be just for sleep for a very long while, i was even planning to remove it completely around June, but then my boy had to be admitted to hospital to treat a mean throat infection with relentless fever ongoing for 7 days, on May 31st, and so i felt kind of cruel taking it away from him right then, he was constantly askig for it, we stayed in the hospital for a week while he received his treatment, and we're using pacifuers during the day now too, for comfort, not just for naps 🙈 completely regressed and I feel like I failed him a bit here 🙈 Now we need to pick up the efforts to ditch them again. I like the idea to cut their tips and pretend they're broken. It might just work! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

My son would have it for naps, bed and car rides. Loved his wubby. Called it his “bee” and was obsessed! We went back and forth about weaning it and ultimately decided to just go cold turkey so we didn’t prolong the process. So glad we did! Our guy asked for it at bed time for a few nights but hasn’t had it for almost 2 weeks now and is sleeping through the night like he normally does. Still does is 2-3 hour nap each day. Car rides have been the worst honestly lol he asked for it in the car way more than any other time. When he asked for it we just acted like we didn’t hear him 😂 and kept doing what we were doing. He whined a little but didn’t throw a fit like we anticipated. We thought it was going to be this huge deal and he’s handled it like a champ and doesn’t ask for it at all anymore. Try taking it away cold turkey 👍🏻

She absolutely hated it!! But my 4 month old is loving hers and I think at 10 months I'm gonna take it but it helps her reflux so we will see

I took mines away at 15 months, my husband actually forgot it at the doctors office so we just quit cold turkey lol. I thought bed time would be horrible but he didn't even miss it.

I took mine away around 2 months again at 20 months. I wanted to have it gone before my next baby comes in September. We basically just got them all together and said “they were gone.” It was a little rough for nap time and the initial falling asleep at night for about 1-2 weeks. She would occasionally ask for it, but has been totally fine without it since then.

He only has it at night or if we’re going for a longish car ride 1 he+) because he hates the car.

Still uses it way too much here, I’m planning to wait a few months, maybe start to ween during fall when big siblings start school again.
