Some people will say it’s wrong, personally I would do it if I had a gut feeling which I did before with my ex and I ended up being right after going through his phone. He was cheating on me. It’s the only true way to know for sure and get evidence.

I think you should straight up tell him you have concerns and would like to go through his phone. I think in a relationship there’s no privacy and if you need to look then ask.

Is it wrong? Yes.
But in my opinion I feel like couples should have full access to each other phones whenever. I’m not saying for the purpose to snoop but as Mutual trust. Knowing that my bf would hand me his phone for whatever reason without hesitation already shows me everything. No need to snoop. Just ask him for his phone and just by his reaction it should tell u everything.

I didn’t until something happened about a year ago and even our couples therapist said it’s healthy and okay for me to want to look through his phone and he should allow it since he broke the trust. 
I don’t do it very often though.

To do so behind their back sure i don’t go through my husband’s phone.. i have no need too… if i find out he’s cheating it’ll be bc he can’t hide shit, he tells on himself all the time, hasn’t cheated since we first got together and weren’t really serious… however i know he has trust issues and while he never uses it against me he looks at my phone from time to time with permission of course he knows he can’t look at mine and my best friends convos bc those are confidential but literally that’s all i talk to besides siblings and my dad…and i delete nothing so it never changes curiosity also if i even mentions i like something to my siblings or dad he buys it😂

It you don’t trust it’s a sign that their are other issues and it’s best to leave (in my experience). So no I can’t imagine a scenario where I would go through my partners phone

If you're worried, it's likely because you already know something is up. If you feel you cannot trust him and need to search his things, it's already too late. Relationships don't work when there's no mutual trust.
