Help! Please read the description. Robert or Bo?

I like the name Bo and the meaning “to live”. I found out that you can use “Bo” as a nickname for the name Robert and that is my brother’s name and a family name that goes generations back. I think it’s a good name but I really do not want him to get called Rob, Robby, etc because growing up that is my brother to me.

Is it a bad idea to name your son a name that you don’t really want him to be called? Should I just name him Bo? I’m thinking as he goes to school and has to correct teachers in every class or as he grows up he may reject the nickname Bo and ask to be called his “real name.” What do you think about commonly using a different name than the legal first name? What would you do?

Also I am not super interested in naming him Beau, Bodhi, or Bowen but I have thought of that and it may be an option. Any other names besides those that you can think of?
