Burp or don’t burp a baby?

I’ve been trying to do research on how to care for a baby. And I’m finding a lot of contradictions on burping a baby. Some say burp a baby everytime after they eat and others say don’t burp them it’s useless and actually not needed at all. Which is it?

It’s not going to hurt them to burp after a feeding. If they don’t need to burp, they won’t burp. If they do, they’ll probably feel better after that gas is released.

If ur baby needs burped, and u don’t burp him/her, then u will likely know it shortly on when they get fussy. Better to just try to get a burp to help them feel better. There’s zero harm in burping a baby, even if it doesn’t work every time.

I burped mine sometimes but not nearly as much as my sister in law does. I read that breastfeeding requires less burping than when they’re bottle fed- less air going in- so that might have something to do with it

My son never burped. I tried it after every feeding when he was a newborn, nothing. Eventually I gave up and it never seemed to bother him. Do what’s best for your kid but generally I’d say try to burp them.

Where TF are you getting your information from?? You ALWAYS burp a baby, they cannot burp themselves and if they are on their backs everything could come back up or they could have major tummy discomfort from the gas/air bubbles !

Depends on the baby. My 1st needed burped or would get bad gas pains. My second would spit up entire feedings if I didnt burp her. Rarely burped my third at all.

You’ll know if your baby needs a burp— they will make SURE youre aware there’s something wrong that you must fix 😂 
Dont over complicate it with going research-crazy. A lot of parenting is just trial and error
