Discharge with slight discomfort

I am 16w2d and have been having some very thick sticky discharge for about a week now. It was just like a pea size about at a time, but today I it was between quarter and Nickel size. I assume at this point it has been my mucus plug due to texture. I have also been having some slight discomfort in my cervix. Yes have called the dr office but have been waiting for a call back. I just want to hear from some ladies that may have had similar experiences in this stage of pregnancy. I didn’t experience this til much later in my pregnancy with my first.
