Getting induced on Sunday yikesss! Any tips you have to make to smoother?

I actually enjoyed getting induced (two times now)
Just go with the flow and relax.
There’s not much else to do besides relax and wait till things start happening.
If you feel like you want pain meds, let them know! Don’t wait till it’s too late.
If you want to go natural, ask your nurse all the ways they can help you make that happen.

Take entertainment. I had my phone, iPad, kindle. Try to sleep as much as you can in the early stages as not much would be happening and you will need to save your energy for the later stages. Have multiple birth partners lined up as they may need to alternate if it takes too long (my sister took around 3 days with her twins 😰). For me, I went in at midnight as I was GBS+ and needed the antibiotics. My sister went with me so my husband could be with the kids overnight and so he can get a good night sleep. I didn’t want him to be groggy or tried when it was time for action. They started pitocin for me around 5 AM and he came around 8 just as I started feeling some painful contractions. I am pro epidural and got them with all three deliveries but if you think you may want to go drug free, I’d tell you that up to the point I got the epidural, my contractions were not as bad as they were with my previous births which were spontaneous 🤷🏻‍♀️.

The less "ready" your body is for labor, the longer it will take and the higher the risk of a complication or C section, so come in with an open mind and a flexible birth plan. It could take up to 2-3 days before baby is born, so bring things to do. I brought adult coloring books and a deck of cards to my induction and was playing card games with my husband for most of the time. It's was a great distraction when in early labor. Good luck!
