Gotta love it…

Amanda • Mother of two wonderful boys and a beautiful little girl.

So last night I ended up back in the ER because I was hurting really bad. (Bad enough I couldn’t breathe and was crying HARD!) anyway, I get triaged and everything… they call me back to get bloodwork… the girl BARELY gets enough to cover the sides of the tube, let alone to actually run any tests… I tell her that it won’t be enough. “Yes it will. That’s plenty!” Like… what?? Sometimes the patient DOES know what they’re talking about… 🤣 you may have more training than me, but I’ve drawn enough bloodwork on people, I know you need to fill it at least a quarter full. They actually needed 4 or 5 tubes and she only did 3, too. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m a hard stick to begin with… so I get the frustration not wanting to stick a person over and over again, but when a patient literally tells you “that’s not going to be enough…” there’s likely not going to be enough. Sure enough, they come to me after I got in a room and said “yeah they didn’t get enough blood up front. That was trash!” I had told the girl to go on and stick me again to get more, but she wouldn’t. So I had to be stuck 3 more times for that and an IV… 🤣 I’ve been battling a UTI for over a month, been battling bronchitis and pneumonia for 3 months… and now I have diverticulitis. 🤦🏻‍♀️ can my body just catch a break please?! Oh, AND my iron IS low. (So just because your hemoglobin is fine doesn’t mean your iron isn’t low… it was fine Tuesday. Last night other blood levels revealed it IS low!) I also apparently have bilirubin in my urine too. (Blood bilirubin was normal though.) I need a break from being sick!! 🥺
