My July baby become a June baby!

Sarah

The last month of pregnancy was crazy. I broke my ankle and had to have surgery at 35 weeks. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 36 weeks after developing polyhydramnios at 30 weeks (too much fluid). I was scheduled for a c section and was given the option to attempt a vbac the day of surgery. The last growth ultrasound said that he was 6 lbs 11 oz and they predicted that he would only be 7 and 1/2 by my section date. The day of surgery after much discussion, we decided to go ahead with the section. The danger of having polyhydramnios is that if the baby's head isn't engaged and the water breaks, the cord can come out and get smashed. If this happens then the baby wouldn't have oxygen delivered to him, and he would suffocate. Then add on the fact that I developed GD, this can cause a baby to be larger than average, in particular his shoulders, causing the baby to get stuck. I wanted to try a vbac so much, but I just had a feeling that it wouldn't work out. So after my second surgery in a month, my Logan O'Ryain was born at 10:37 am on June 28th, weighing 9 lbs even and 22 inches long. Trust your instincts ladies!
