Sorry for the long story! On the morning of Sunday November 22 at 5:58 am, I was woken up from a peaceful sleep with the worst contraction I have ever experienced! I didn't think much of it but after about a half hour of timing my contractions at 6 to 7 minutes apart I called my doctor. She told me to suck it up and wait as long as I could before coming to the hospital. My fiance wasn't home poor guy was up all night plowing snow so I waited for him, I took a bath, did my make up and then around 10am we picked up my mom and headed to the hospital. When I arrived to the hospital my contractions were a steady 5 minutes apart for the last few hours and I was completely effaced so I was admitted! After getting to my room i walked around, bounced on the birthing ball and tried to take my mind off things and hold off as long as i could to get the epidural. I was checked and progressed to a 4. They let me know my doctor was coming in at about 2 pm to break my water so I immediately asked for the epidural because I knew things would get a lot more painful after my water was broke. It was such a weird feeling but it didn't hurt at all! Oh my god, after my water was broke my contractions were so intense I couldn't even remember to breathe. They were coming every 2 minutes! Thank God the epidural was right there. Honestly I had the worst visions in my head of what the epidural was going to be like I thought it was going to be so painful and it wasn't at all. They numbed my back, gave me the shot and inserted the epidural. It was such a great relief. I knew when the contractions were coming I could feel the pressure but I couldn't feel pain. Roughly a half hour passed and I started having back labor terribly. I could feel every contraction again and I was in pain so they came back and upped my medication. All of a sudden the babies heartbeat was dropping and I was so scared. They made me change positions and get on all 4's. I had to wear oxygen for a while but it ended up coming back down. By this time it was about 430pm and I was a 6 and after that point my labor flew by and I was dilating quickly. The nurse checked me again at 6 and she said ellie was coming and she could see her hair! They called my doctor, she got there, I pushed for 10 minutes, but at the end her blood pressure dropped again because the cord was wrapped around her neck, so i had to be cut. And, out came my beautiful baby girl! She was 7 lbs 2 Oz and 19.5 inches long. I'm so blessed to have had such an amazing pregnancy and such an easy labor! She's the absolute best baby and I'm so in love with her. 😍😚
