Going into labor and then stopping?

Has this ever happened to anybody?? This morning at 3am I started suddenly getting contractions at a very consistent 3-4 minutes apart. They weren’t intense but definitely happening, so we went to the hospital. I was 1cm a few days ago, by initial intake at the hospital (5am) I was 2/3cm, and by 6:30am I was 4/5cm and the contractions getting harsher and harsher, definitely couldn’t talk through them but not crying yet either lol. And then it evened out, contractions stayed the same for some time and then for some reason at like 9/10am, everything just stopped. Contractions stopped, or were very very light. By noon I was checked again and I went back to a 1cm and got discharged at 1pm. I’m just so lost and confused, I feel like my body let me down and I’m so upset about it.
