I want to buy a home for our family to grow up in, but like a super basic house costs half a million???

Is anyone else really sad that you can’t buy a house to raise your family in because the housing market is insane? Who is buying a 3 bed 2 bath cookie cutter house for a minimum of $500,000?! I’m angry about it. Luckily we do own our current home and have enough space for us all for now but I’m angry and sad that the next step isn’t in reach for a while. I just want to rant and know if anyone is in the same boat. We make a decent amount of money for where we are at in our life but this is crazy 😭🥵

i’m a real estate agent and i can tell you do not buy a house rn, the market is planning to crash, they’re thinking next year or even a year or two, it’s a gold mine for us and for sellers but for buys it’s an absolute scam and you’ll regret it, try investing in your house now with some renovations and up your equity

We just purchased a house in Oregon after relocating from Massachusetts. We’re set to close on a couple of weeks. My husband owned a house back East and made a good profit on it, which is the only way we could afford to buy. Thankfully the cost of living is also less out here. We ended up being able to put over 40% down on a five bed, three bath 2,950 sq ft house. Not an ideal time to buy, but we wouldn’t survive in our tiny, temporary apartment with a toddler and a newborn.

It’s so hard to buy a house, especially where we live. The market is sooo marked up and it’s only climbing! We just bought a house and in the last month it’s gone up in value by 10k! And we literally have done nothing to the house. I’ve read that it won’t crash either, but rather just level out. We waited a year to buy because we had a good source that said in the next year they predict a crash. A year later instead of a crash everything went up $50,000. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I totally understand, we've actually already been waiting a few years to move from where we live to somewhere better and settle down and buy a house...but prices just keeeeeep going up and we keep staying where we are, in a town we dislike. I'm so ready to live in a home I want to invest in and make my own, in a community I really care about. I hate having to wait this out even longer. Also, we finally have a comfortable amount of savings, and I hate how much of it I'll have to spend on a house now. It feels unfair after working so hard to build that up that the market just went up with it. You can never get ahead, it sucks. I can rant all day with you about this haha.
