Child Tax Credit
Soooo I have a question about the Child Tax Credit.
I have 50/50 custody of my 2 year old with my ex husband. The way our custody agreement is, he claims her on his taxes for even years and I claim her for odd years. So for instance, he claimed her when he filed his 2020 taxes.
My question is, since I am claiming her when I file my 2021 taxes next year, and the Child Tax Credit is an ADVANCE of what I would get for her when I file 2021 taxes.....shouldnt I be getting the credit? It went into his account since he is the one that claimed her last year, but he just keeps saying that it is an "extention" of his taxes from 2020 because he never actually reads anything and is refusing to actually listen when I try to explain it. Like, I even said we could split it in half like we did with her stimulus and he just went off saying it was HIS and he wasn't giving any of it to me despite the fact that it is SUPPOSED to be for her on what I am filing for 2021.
