Career/business idea - advice please

Cassandra

Lately I’ve been feeling the need to transition to a new industry and I keep coming back to owning my own business. I’m a trained professional counselor but I currently work in the non-profit/human services sector. While I do consider myself to be an altruistic person, I’m longing for more than my 9-5, bureaucratic job.

I want to put my counselor education and my nonprofit management skills to good work in a way that allows me freedom, taps into my skills and passions, and allows my past experience to help others.

My experience includes being in a violent marriage, building the capacity to flee my dangerous situation, learning how to heal deep seeded wounds that showed up in my relationships choices and other life experiences, and developing self love and healthy relationship skills.

I want to be a relationship coach for women out of domestic violence, and women who want to build happy and healthy relationships with a partner, or other areas of their lives. Additionally, I want a portion of the proceeds from my coaching business to go towards organizations that serve domestic violence situations. Eventually, I would love to one day also have a nonprofit that fundraisers for domestic violence services. This might provide some opportunities to plan fun events, connect with other like minded organizations, and make a difference to the lives of others who I would be unable to support with my private pay business.

What do you think? Is this crazy talk? Do you think there is a market for my service?

Who do I talk to to structure something like this? Where to do start? Thanks for any suggestions or feedback.
