Help. Ftm here. Infant question

My baby is a week old and does amazing through out the day in the living room and kitchen while we are all up and active. But everything changes as soon as we take him to our room at night. He cries at the top of his lungs, denies the boob, has a clean diaper, is burped....but as soon as we take him out of our bedroom to the living room and sit on the couch with him he stops crying and falls asleep.... why is this?
