Unclear ultrasound @ 18 weeks?

So I went in at 14 weeks and the legs were crossed and nothing was visible by tech and doctor who both said they think it's a girl only for lack of seeing an obvious penis

Today I'm 18 weeks and same thing, legs crossed and I was told by the tech it looks like a girl and the doctor came in and in between the legs was not the 3 lines or male genitals so she said it's probably a girl and I said how confident can I be and she said I can be confident and to go out and buy cute stuff

But

How can you not see the female parts clearly or lack of male parts and say you're sure?! Sounds weird to me and I am not buying anything pink yet because I'm not convinced

I saw the between the legs shot when the baby finally uncrossed them... I didn't see the clear 3 lines of a female part I didn't see a penis I didn't see anything just legs that ended and nothing

Has anyone ever had a similar experience around 18 weeks?

I go back in 2 weeks to check cervical length...
