What happens if you fail the glucose tolerance test?

I failed the 1 hour test. My result was 256 mg/DL. With this result its too high, i think it would be difficult to pass the 2nd test?
What happens next?
And what are the risks with gestational diabetes? Does it mean they will induce me or c section?

A lot of people fail the first but not the second. 
I was diagnosed with GD, managed it with diet and was not induced not c section

I had gestational diabetes!
Your doctor will can and let you know you failed and that you have GD.
They’ll refer you to a nutritionist and a diabetes specialist and they’ll let you know your new diet and how to check your blood sugar.
You’ll have to prick your finger 4 times a day (first thing in the morning, after breakfast, after lunch and after dinner)
The risks with GD comes from your blood sugar not being managed and you not following the diet. Baby can get too big too fast which can lead to a c-section and complications.
It’s really not all that bad!

I was sent to take the 3hr test, and was diagnosed GD. I met with a nutritionist and had to do a food log + test my blood with an at home glucose test kit.  Then I was supposed to go in for a follow-up with all my data, but instead I went into early labor and had my baby (natural birth) at 32 weeks. So, obviously no induction or C-section! He did swallow some meconium so they suctioned his stomach and airways, but was a good size (nearly 6lbs), had no breathing difficulties and his blood sugars were great. He's a healthy quirky 3yr old now.

That’s a pretty high number.
If you are diagnosed, they’ll have you test 4 times a day like others said. Once when you first wake up and once after every meal (some ask for 1 hr after and some ask for 2 hrs). You will be referred to a nutritionist which will give you guidelines for diet (general advice is to have 3 meals and 2-3 snacks, slow release carbs, no fruits with meals especially in the morning when insulin sensitivity is lower. Reduce refined sugar…etc). You will also be having more scans to check the baby’s size and NSTs. If your numbers are not controlled by diet and exercise, you may need meds. I ended up needing insulin for my fasting numbers (a shot of long acting insulin before bed) and also for my post breakfast numbers (a shot of short acting insulin before eating). My other numbers were diet controlled.
The major risks happen with poor control but if you are well controlled, you have nothing to worry about.
I was induced at 37+3 but the main reason was because my BP was also high. My OB told me that if my BP had been normal, she would’ve let me go to 39 weeks or even up to 41 weeks if I wasn’t on insulin. Baby was good and had no issues with size or low blood sugar after birth and my numbers went back to normal immediately. The last insulin I had was a half dose before my induction. I’m having another 3 hr test next week (supposed to be 6 weeks pp but it got pushed a week) to make sure all is normal.

Not sure with it being that high already if they will make you do the 3 hour test or not. But they will send you to see a diabetic doctor you will be testing your sugar 4 times a day and will be put on a diet with some many carbs each meal and snack. As long as you can keep your numbers down to be diet controlled then you won’t have to take shots. Also depends on your body I was diet controlled but they normally won’t let you go over 38 wks so I was induced at 38wks. Everything went good but my little miss had a little problem at first with her sugar but went back up to normal after a few hours.
