Why did his preference override mine?

So I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing or not I'm just wondering (I'm not racist in any means. This man was Indian and absolutely lovely).

I had my cerclage placed yesterday and my anesthetist had put my spinal in - great. Went a bit dodgy so he had to go out and back in. Again no problem.

Once I was laying down I was given the option by the ladies who were placing my cerclage if I wanted to have the cover up or down.

My last cerclage I had it down as I quite liked watching them do their thing and it puts me at ease because I can't feel anything but I can see it.

I said down please.

My anesthetist said he would really rather have it up. So up it went.

I had little to no energy to even request it up so I went with what he wanted.

Was it cultural? Or a medical preference? why would it override what I wanted?

Again not too fussed if it was cultural - would have been nice to have it explained. I'm very accepting. Just got annoyed I weren't listened to
