Ondensetron???

I was prescribed Ondensetron (Zofran) for my nausea but I’m unsure about it since Zofran is KNOWN to cause birth defects…has anyone else had this issue?

Zofran is an extremely common thing to be prescribed during pregnancy. The risk of birth defects (mostly cleft lol) does rise slightly but is still under like 1% or something minuscule like that. If the doctor prescribed it they believe the benefits outweigh the risks. Everything has risks, even Tylenol which is “safe” for pregnancy.

There have been studies since then that show that Zofran causes no birth defects. Even back in the day when they thought that it did, it was only before 10 weeks gestation. I’m not sure how far along you are, but I would feel safe taking it at any point during pregnancy given the new studies.

I’ve taken Zofran every day at least three times a day since 5 weeks pregnant. I’m now 16 and got to see my boy and he’s okay! If you need it- it helps a lot. I was wary on taking it as well but the more I threw up and was dehydrated which is dangerous for him, the more I knew I needed some medicine to help.
